Attic Sewing Sweatshop

The sewing sweatshops of Pyeonghwa Market were less sunny inside and were full of thread dust. In addition, the attic sweatshop was a double-deck and had a height of approximately 1.5 m for a single floor. It was an extremely narrow space where workers could not even stretch their waist. About 30 people had to work in an area of approximately 26 square meters. Due to the 15 hours of mandatory working and night shifts, many workers suffered from various illnesses, such as tuberculosis, eye diseases, gastrointestinal infections, and neuralgia.
